Matthew Berg, Headmaster

Matthew Berg serves as founding headmaster of The Lutheran Classical Academy of St. David the King at Zion. With more than ten years of experience in classical education, Mr. Berg brings a deep commitment to Lutheran classical education, character formation, and academic excellence.

Background

A native of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Mr. Berg earned his Bachelor’s degree in Classics from the University of Minnesota and, in 2020, his Master of Arts in Teaching in Latin and Classical Humanities from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Throughout his teaching career, he has taught at every level from third grade through college, and has served in school leadership as a department head and as vice president of a school board.

Leadership & Vision

Mr. Berg’s leadership is rooted in creating a clear, authentic classical environment where students can grow in wisdom, stature, and grace to bless the Church and their communities through their vocations.

Mr. Berg is honored to return to his home state and help launch a school that will serve families in the tradition of classical education. Under his guidance, the Academy is set to begin its inaugural year with vision and purpose.
